But the biggest gains are happening in e-commerce, with 85% of shoppers saying they plan to buy most or all of their gifts this year online. Digital retail sales are expected to grow 15% from last year, to approximately $226 billion in total online sales. These early fourth quarter numbers are a promising indication that we will see an even more substantial increase in affiliate marketing revenue this year.

Even as stores began to reopen in 2021, many consumers are opting to shop online rather than visiting physical retailers. According to recent data, 263 million Americans, or about 80% of the population, shop online, and that number is expected to climb to 30 million by 2025.
